Russia
General Information
Russia is the largest country in the world by land area, covering approximately 17 million square kilometers. It spans across much of northern Eurasia and has a population of over 145 million people.
Geography
Russia shares borders with several countries including Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. The country also has a long coastline along the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
Climate
Russia’s climate varies greatly depending on the region, ranging from subtropical in the south to polar in the north. Winters can be very cold, especially in the eastern regions near Siberia, while summers are mild and pleasant.
Public Toilets
In Russia, public toilets are not as common as they are in Western countries. However, you can find them at major train stations, airports, shopping centers, and some restaurants and cafes. Some popular tourist destinations like Moscow and St. Petersburg also have a decent number of public toilets.
Private Toilets
Most hotels and hostels in Russia provide private toilet facilities for their guests. Some apartments and houses may also have private toilets, but it’s not common to find shared or public toilets in residential areas.
Cultural Considerations
In Russia, it’s generally considered polite to use a toilet paper roll from left to right (not from top to bottom like in some Western countries). Additionally, when using a public toilet, it’s customary to throw the toilet paper into the bin and not flush it down the toilet.
